People expect a flash of insight right in the session: to feel released here and now, to be able to say “that's it, I'm a different person”. Sometimes it happens exactly like that. But more often the interesting part begins on a Wednesday evening, in the kitchen, in the middle of an ordinary conversation.
What changes first
The automatic reaction goes first. The same situation happens again — and you don't flare up. Not because you held yourself back, but because it simply didn't hook you. That is the sign the work went deeper than words.
Don't ask yourself “do I feel better”. Ask: “what did I do differently this week”.
How to notice it
Make it a habit to check the facts once a week: how you sleep, how you talk to your family, how long it takes to make a decision that used to hang for months. Feelings can deceive you — facts don't.
And don't rush yourself. There are usually one or two weeks between sessions — that is not a pause, that is the part of the work that life itself does.
